Abstract

This paper proposes a new one-parameter unit Haq distribution to measure percentage data. Various statisticaland reliability properties of the new distribution, such as moments and other measures connected with them, hazard function, and reversed hazard were examined. It was shown that the new model density function was suitable for modeling asymmetricdata, and its failure rate function could effectively describe an increasing failure rate. Six estimation methods were used toestimate the parameters of the new distribution. A Monte Carlo simulation study was conducted on different sample sizes toevaluate the performance of these estimators. Lastly, the flexibility of the proposed model was exemplified by consideringthree datasets from entomology, COVID-19, and kidney dialysis patients to estimate the factors related to the unit interval.
