In this article, a secure high-speed optical communication system was proposed and analyzed at 40 Gb/s using the Blowfish algorithm in combination with D-BPSK modulation. The proposed system is designed and simulated on the OptiSystem platform to investigate its effectiveness in signal integrity, BER performance, transmission distance, and security robustness. Both encryption and modulation (D-BPSK) can be carried out at sufficiently low complexity for 100 Gb/s systems. Simulated results indicate that the system can achieve transmission distance up to 600 km if there is no D-BPSK. However, with D-BPSK implemented, the distance increases significantly to 1080 km with improving 80%.Downloads
