Abstract

Monitoring the quality of concrete blocks is a fundamental aspect of construction projects to ensure the safety and stability of structures. This research aims to apply a combination of traditional statistical control charts, along with a regression control chart, to monitor the quality of concrete block and diagnose the behavior of the production process, without seeking to compare the superiority of these charts. The research relied on real data consisting of (118) observations of concrete blocks tests for a bridge in Nasiriyah, obtained from the consulting office at Thi Qar University. The arithmetic mean, standard deviation, range, and moving average charts were applied, in addition to a regression chart for control purposes, by using the traditional control limits established in Shewhart charts, the results showed that the traditional control charts respond to different patterns of change in quality characteristics. The mean and moving average charts revealed changes in average compressive strength, while the standard deviation and range charts confirmed the stability of dispersion within the production process. The results of the regression control chart also showed the stability of the linear relationship between the weight of the concrete blocks and the explanatory variables related to the production and inspection process, , without the appearance of signals outside the limits of control. The research results indicate that the use of an integrated set of statistical control charts provides a more comprehensive monitoring and diagnostic framework for monitoring the quality of concrete blocks, highlighting the complementary role that the control regression chart plays alongside.
