Abstract

In 2011, Alkhazaleh and Salleh introduced the concept of a soft expert set, a framework that enables users to incorporate expert opinions within a unified model for decision-making purposes. They further extended this work by proposing the fuzzy soft expert set, which integrates the features of both fuzzy sets and soft expert sets. Meanwhile, in 2009, Yang et al. developed the notion of an interval-valued fuzzy soft set by combining the interval-valued fuzzy set with the soft set model. The present research aims to merge the contributions of Alkhazaleh and Salleh (2011) with those of Yang et al. (2009), leading to the formulation of a new concept called the interval-valued fuzzy soft expert set (IVFSES). We also examine the fundamental properties of its operations, including complement, union, intersection, AND, and OR, and provide a formal presentation of these operators. To demonstrate its applicability, we analyze a decision-making problem using the proposed interval-valued fuzzy soft expert set. Our approach offers enhanced effectiveness and practicality, as it allows users to access the collective opinions of all specialists within a single integrated framework. Finally, we present a practical application of this concept to real-world decision-making scenarios.
